The benefits of wearing sunscreen/sunblock

Standard

Experience to make your life better))) Happy New Year!! 2017!!! Gosh, hard to believe, its 2017 outside. Sitting next to the window, looking outside at the very sunny day in India, Mumbai. Outside +30, maybe little bit more, and I am cold))) can you believe that?! Looks like my Ukrainian genes feel that in Ukraine is real winter now.

Anyway, some nostalgia is always nice. Today I want to talk about sunscreen/sunblock.  First, what is the difference between those two, most of us are thinking its the same. Little research and I am ready to share))

Sunscreen absorbs rather than reflects ultraviolet (UV) radiation, explains a new edition of Skin Care and Repair , a Harvard Medical School report.

Sunblocks, such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, are highly effective in protecting against both UVA and UVB rays, the types of UV radiation that cause sunburn and skin cancer. Sunblocks often appear white on the skin. ( often, but not always). Sunscreens tend to be less visible on the skin. A major drawback of these sunscreen ingredients is that they often break down after several hours of exposure to sunlight, which means you need to reapply them.

So, sunblocks are more effective, especially if you start to have pigmentation on your face, then you need to wear it all the time!!!

Its hard to remember to apply sunscreen/sunblock, so some technique right here, look at this picture and next time 90% sure you will not forget )))

It is from a study published by the New England Journal of Medicine, and it shows a truck driver who has severely sun-damaged skin – but only on the left side of his face, which is the side that faced the driver’s side window of the truck. Because only half of his face received heavy sun exposure, this photo shows how the sun accelerates aging.

Many people assume dry skin shows the way to wrinkles and if we apply moisturizers, we can prevent them. Too bad that’s not true! Research shows 90% of wrinkles are caused by the sun’s UVA light and damage from sun is the number one cause of premature aging in women and men.

Do you know that even at low-level exposures, UVA light breaks down collagen, which causes wrinkles? Fortunately we have options for sun protection. Read above)))

What are the top five reasons to  wear sunscreen/sunblock?

1. The ozone layer is depleting and your body needs shielding from harmful rays.

2. Skin cancer rates are on the rise and sunscreen has been proven to decrease the development of skin cancer.

3. It helps to prevent facial brown spots and skin discolorations.

4. It also helps to reduce the appearance of facial red veins and blotchiness.

5. It slows down the development of wrinkled, premature aging skin.

My favorite sunblock, by the way recommended to me by dermatologist is Neutrogena 50+!!!
